The motivation for this development is found in the concentrationand interplay of the complex technical components that are characteristic for an aircraft tow truckand which, in their interplay, have potential for structural optimization. The driver‘s cabin, a ball-shaped cockpit, has the driveras the central controlling element on a console seat witha joystick.
The cabin can turn in the direction the driver is steering and is raised when the vehicle changes direction,in order to always have an optimal panorama view. Air cushion pads are used to take up the wheel of the aircraft: the pads are inflated by a compressor and gently clamp the front wheel of the aircraft. Then, the wheelis raised hydraulically.
However, it remains cushioned by the air and ensures that the aircraft is pulled along smoothly. The truck‘s steering capabilities are distinguished by four separately controllable hydraulic wheels. This allows a wide range of motion – from turning in place, shifting to the side or conventional movement.
