Two Day Workshop Brief: Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein or the New Prometheus, a tale of horror featuring the »Creature«. Contrary to Hollywood depiction and naming, the »Creature« is not Frankenstein but the name of its creator. For the workshop, you will be the scientist creating a whole from disparate parts. In preparation to the workshop, students had to bring the following: > an advert from a magazine you find ugly > a colour (a sample from paint or swatch) > a photograph of an ugly building in Darmstadt > a portrait of a anti-hero > a colour print out of an ugly piece of artwork > an mp3 file of an ugly song > an ugly object (bring the object) > your least favourite piece of clothing (wear it!) > an ugly book (bring it) > an ugly word set in an ugly typeface > an ugly ingredient for cooking

In the end there were 7 groups who had to deal with different »ugly« categories. Find the result of the »ugly Darmstadt architecture-group« here Next Stop: Ugly. The photograph above left features all the participants in the workshop wearing their least favourite piece of clothing (Photograph by Falko Schnelle). The photograph on the top, second from left, shows the lunch we prepared out of »ugly ingredients« while we were listening to »ugly songs« and being surrounded by »ugly objects«.
